The legacy behind JOG’S Village

A legacy built on service

JOG’S Village is named in honor of James O. Greenup, a retired U.S. Army Veteran who served his country for 26 years with dedication, discipline, and quiet leadership.

After retiring from the military, James had one clear goal: to continue serving Veterans. He enrolled in college to pursue a degree in Human Services, determined to work directly with Veterans facing housing insecurity and the challenges of civilian transition.

One semester before completing his degree, James fell seriously ill and could no longer continue his education and the work he was preparing his life to do.

JOG’S Village exists so that his dream did not end there.

Founded by his wife, Sandra M. Greenup, JOG’S Village transforms James’s lifelong commitment to service into action — providing safe, permanent, affordable housing for Veterans and their families, with special priority given to female Veterans and children.

Mission

We are committed to ending veteran homelessness with safe, permanent, affordable housing. Every resident deserves a community that honors service, restores confidence, and strengthens the future.

Female veterans and children

Why we focus on female veterans and their children

Women who served face unique barriers that include fewer tailored housing options and limited family‑ready units. JOG’S Village prioritizes safe apartments that support mothers and children, with privacy, security, and proximity to services.

  • Family‑ready one and two bedroom units
  • Secure buildings and trauma‑informed spaces
  • On‑site laundry and resource rooms
  • Community support and peer connection
